The story
This cabin is named for a real place: the trout farm on Rocky Ford Creek, founded by Ed McLeary and Ken Drew — a fisherman’s haven. The details tell the hatchery’s story: the vanity represents the hatchery, the fisherman, and the spawning, with Ed Norley’s carved trout on the backsplash. A “Trout Lodge” neon sign glows above pictures of all the hatchery’s operating sites, a globe mapping Trout Lodge’s foreign shipping lanes, and a hatch full of collectibles. And then there’s the legend — three years after opening, a watch was found still ticking inside the epoxied dining table. Plus a wonderful view of Soap Lake.
